The KNESSET is the unicameral legislature of Israel, and is the only legislature in the world to be based on proportional representation. It is composed of 120 members who are elected by popular vote every four years. The KNESSET is responsible for passing laws, approving the budget, supervising the work of the government, and electing the President and Prime Minister. It also has the power to dissolve itself and call new elections.
