The Knesset is the unicameral legislature of Israel, and is the primary legislative body of the Israeli government. It is composed of 120 members who are elected by popular vote to serve four-year terms. The Knesset is located in Jerusalem and is the only legislature in the world that meets in a building that is also a national shrine. The Knesset has the power to pass laws, ratify international treaties, elect the President and Prime Minister, and approve the cabinet. It also has the power to dissolve itself and call for new elections.
