The term 'Youth Who Flew Too Near the Sun' refers to the Greek mythological figure Icarus. Icarus was the son of Daedalus, a master craftsman and inventor. Icarus and his father were imprisoned on the island of Crete by King Minos. Daedalus crafted wings made of feathers and wax for himself and his son so they could escape. However, Icarus flew too close to the sun, causing the wax to melt and he fell into the sea and drowned.
