The Office of Price Administration (OPA) was an agency created during World War II to control prices and rents in the United States. It was established in 1941 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of the wartime mobilization effort. The OPA was responsible for setting price ceilings on a wide range of goods and services, including food, clothing, fuel, and other commodities. It also set rent ceilings on housing and regulated the distribution of scarce materials. The OPA was abolished in 1947 after the war ended.
