Hap Arnold was a five-star General of the Army during World War II. He was the only airman to ever hold a five-star rank and was the first and only airman to ever be promoted to General of the Army. He was also the Chief of the Army Air Forces during the war, and was responsible for the development of the air power strategy that helped the Allies win the war. He was known for his innovative thinking and leadership, and was highly respected by his peers.
