Erle Stanley Gardner was an American author best known for his detective fiction. He wrote over 80 novels and short stories featuring the popular characters Perry Mason and the Cool and Lam private detective agency. He was one of the top-selling authors of all time, with more than 300 million copies of his works sold worldwide. He was also a prolific screenwriter, producing over 200 scripts for television and film.
