The Wright Brothers Aircraft was a biplane, a type of aircraft with two wings stacked one above the other. The Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were two American inventors who are credited with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane in 1903. Their biplane was the first powered, heavier-than-air aircraft to achieve sustained, controlled flight with a pilot aboard.
