The capital of Wisconsin is Madison, a city of approximately 255, 000 people located in the south-central part of the state. Madison is the second most populous city in Wisconsin and the 82nd largest in the United States. It is the county seat of Dane County and the home of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Madison is known for its lakes, parks, and cultural attractions, and is often referred to as 'the City of Four Lakes'.
