Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is a city located in Luzerne County. It is the county seat and the largest city in the county. The city was founded in 1769 and named after John Wilkes and Isaac Barre, two British politicians. Wilkes-Barre is known for its rich history and culture, as well as its many attractions, such as the Mohegan Sun Arena, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team, and the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts.
