Wife of Orpheus, Eurydice, was a figure in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Apollo and the wife of Orpheus, the great musician and poet. After their marriage, Eurydice was tragically killed by a snake bite. Orpheus was so grief-stricken that he descended into the underworld to try and bring her back. He succeeded in his mission, but on the way back, he was not allowed to look back at her until they reached the surface. Unfortunately, he did look back, and Eurydice was taken away from him forever.
