The WHIFFENPOOFS School is an a cappella singing group at YALE University. The group was founded in 1909 and is the oldest collegiate a cappella group in the United States. The name 'WHIFFENPOOFS' comes from a fictional song about a mythical barroom patron. The group is composed of fourteen senior men who are selected each year through a competitive audition process. The WHIFFENPOOFS perform a wide variety of music, including traditional YALE songs, popular music, and spirituals.
