The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is a collegiate athletic conference that has been in existence since 1962. Two of its teams are RICE University and the University of Utah, commonly referred to as the RICE Owls and the Utes, respectively. RICE is located in Houston, Texas and competes in NCAA Division I athletics. The Utes are located in Salt Lake City, Utah and also compete in NCAA Division I athletics. Both teams have had success in the WAC, with RICE winning the conference championship in 2006 and the Utes winning it in 2007.
