Thermit is a welding material composed of a mixture of aluminum powder and iron oxide. It is used in welding and metalworking processes, as it produces an exothermic reaction when ignited, producing temperatures of up to 4, 000 degrees Celsius. This high temperature allows for the welding of metals that would otherwise be difficult to join. Thermit is also used in other applications such as pyrotechnics and thermite grenades.
