Noah Webster was an American lexicographer, textbook author, English-language spelling reformer, political writer, editor, and prolific author. He is best known for his speller books and his compilation of the first comprehensive dictionary of the English language, which was published in 1828 as 'An American Dictionary of the English Language'.
