Noah Webster was an American lexicographer, textbook author, English-language spelling reformer, and political writer. He is best known for his speller books and his compilation of the first comprehensive DICTIONARY of the American English language, which was published in 1828 as An American DICTIONARY of the English Language. Webster is also credited with popularizing the modern spelling of many words, including 'DICTIONARY' and 'Webster'.
