The Watergate President was Richard Nixon, who served as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974. He was the only president to resign from office, doing so in August 1974 in the wake of the Watergate scandal. The scandal involved a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., and the subsequent cover-up of the administration's involvement. Nixon's involvement in the scandal ultimately led to his resignation.
