Wake Island is an ATOLL located in the North Pacific Ocean, about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to the Northern Mariana Islands. It is an unincorporated territory of the United States and is administered by the Department of the Interior. The ATOLL consists of three coral islands: Wake, Wilkes, and Peale. It is a strategic military location and has been used as a refueling stop for aircraft and ships.
