A waistcoat, also known as a gilet (5 letters), VEST (4 letters), JERKIN (6 letters) or WESKIT (6 letters), is a sleeveless upper-body garment that is usually worn over a shirt or blouse. It is typically made of wool, cotton, linen, or silk and is often decorated with buttons or other embellishments. Waistcoats are usually cut to fit the body snugly and can be either single-breasted or double-breasted. They are commonly worn for formal occasions, but can also be worn casually.
