A Viscount is a title of nobility in the British peerage system. It is the fourth-highest rank in the British peerage, below a marquess and above a baron. The title is derived from the Latin word vicecomes, meaning 'vice-count'. A Viscount is a LORD, or a PEER, of the realm.
