TAMS stands for Texas A&M University System, which is a system of 11 universities and seven state agencies in Texas. It was established in 1949 and is one of the largest systems of higher education in the United States. TAMS provides educational opportunities to more than 152, 000 students and employs more than 20, 000 faculty and staff members. The system is composed of two universities, Texas A&M University and Texas A&M University-Commerce, as well as nine other universities and seven state agencies. TAMS is dedicated to providing quality education, research, and service to the citizens of Texas.
