The Syrian capital, formerly known as Antioch, is a city located in the southeastern part of Turkey. It was founded around 300 BC and was an important center of early Christianity. It was also the capital of the Roman province of Syria and the Seleucid Empire. In the Middle Ages, it was the largest and most important city in the region. Today, it is a major tourist destination and is home to many ancient ruins.
