A symphonic ensemble is a large musical group consisting of instruments from the string, woodwind, brass, and percussion families. It is commonly referred to as an ORCHESTRA. An ORCHESTRA typically consists of between 40 and 100 musicians, depending on the size of the venue and the type of music being performed. The term symphonic ensemble is often used to describe a larger ORCHESTRA, such as a symphony ORCHESTRA or philharmonic ORCHESTRA. These ensembles are typically made up of more than 100 musicians and are usually found in large concert halls.
