A sweeping story is a narrative that covers a large amount of time and/or space. It is often an EPIC or a SAGA, two terms which can be used interchangeably to describe a long and complex story. An EPIC is a narrative poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, that focuses on the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. A SAGA is a long, involved story, usually about heroic deeds and events that have taken place over a long period of time.
