Jenny Lind, also known as the 'Swedish Nightingale', was a renowned Swedish soprano who gained international fame during the 19th century. She was born in Stockholm in 1820 and began her career as an opera singer at the age of nine. Her four-letter surname, Lind, is derived from the Swedish word for lime tree. She toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, performing to sold-out audiences. Her popularity was so great that she was even referred to as 'the Swedish Queen of Song'.
