Thurgood Marshall was a Supreme Court Justice from 1967 to 1991. He was the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court and is widely regarded as one of the most influential justices in the court's history. Marshall was a civil rights lawyer before his appointment to the Supreme Court, and he argued several landmark cases before the court, including Brown v. Board of Education.
