DIVESTS is a term used to describe the process of a government or company selling off its assets, such AS stocks, bonds, or other PROPERTY. This process is known AS divestment and is often done to raise money or to reduce risk. Stocks, bonds, and other PROPERTY that are sold off in this way are referred to AS STRIPS (OF) AS PROPERTY.
