Stalag 17 Star is a 1953 American war comedy-drama film directed by Billy Wilder and starring William Holden. It is based on the Broadway play of the same name by Donald Bevan and Edmund Trzcinski, which was based on their experiences as prisoners in Stalag 17B in Austria during World War II. The film follows a group of American prisoners of war who suspect that one of their own is an informant for the Germans. Holden plays the role of Sergeant J.J. Sefton, the cynical leader of the prisoners. The film won the Academy Award for Best Writing, Motion Picture Story.
