Speech therapists are concerned with two main issues: stuttering and lisping. Stuttering is a disorder in which the flow of speech is disrupted by repetitions, prolongations, or abnormal stoppages of sounds and syllables. Lisping is a speech disorder in which the speaker produces sibilant sounds incorrectly, often substituting them for other sounds. Both of these conditions can be addressed through speech therapy.
