The Soviet Press Agency, also known as TASS (Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union), was a state-run news agency in the Soviet Union from 1925 to 1991. It was the official and only source of news for the Soviet Union and its satellite states. TASS was responsible for providing news to the Soviet public, as well as to foreign media outlets. It was also responsible for disseminating propaganda and censorship of news.
