The Soviet News Service, also known as TASS (Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union), was a state-run news agency in the Soviet Union. It was founded in 1925 and served as the official news agency of the Soviet Union until its dissolution in 1991. TASS was responsible for providing news and information to the Soviet public and international media outlets. It was also responsible for disseminating propaganda and censorship of news and information.
