Sounds of pain are expressions of physical or emotional distress. OOFS is an onomatopoeic word used to describe a sharp, sudden sound, such as a gasp or a yelp. MOANS are low, prolonged sounds that are usually associated with physical or emotional suffering. OWS are short, sharp cries of pain. All three words are used to describe the sounds of pain that someone might make when they are in distress.
