Sounds of contentment are expressions of satisfaction and joy. PURRS, ahs, and aahs are all examples of these sounds. PURRS are low, vibrating noises made by cats and other animals to express pleasure or contentment. Aahs are longer, drawn-out sounds that are often used to express admiration or appreciation. Ahs are shorter, more abrupt sounds that can be used to express surprise or agreement. All three of these sounds are associated with feelings of contentment.
