Edna Ferber was an American novelist, short story writer, and playwright. She wrote many novels, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel So Big, which tells the story of a woman's struggle to make a life for herself and her son in the face of adversity. Ferber was also known for her plays, which were often adapted into films. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1994.
