Theseus was a legendary Greek hero who is best known for slaying the Minotaur, a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man. He is also credited with many other heroic deeds, such as killing the Crommyonian Sow, a monstrous pig that terrorized the countryside of Megara. Theseus was the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea, and Aethra, a mortal woman. He was raised by his mother until he was old enough to travel to Athens, where he became king. He is remembered for his bravery and cunning in defeating the Minotaur, which he accomplished by using a ball of string to find his way out of the labyrinth.
