Sitting Bull was a famous Native American leader of the Hunkpapa Lakota SIOUX tribe. He was born in the Grand River area of present-day South DAKOTA, and his given name was Tatanka Iyotake, which translates to 'Sitting Bull' in English. He is most well-known for leading the SIOUX in their victory against the US Army at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. He was also a key figure in the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890. Sitting Bull was a member of the SIOUX tribe, which is located in the Dakotas.
