Shoe parts are the components that make up a shoe. Insoles, also known as footbeds, are the innermost layer of a shoe and provide cushioning and support for the foot. Insteps are the top part of the foot, between the toes and the ankle. Outsoles are the bottom layer of a shoe and provide traction and durability. HEELS are the back part of the sole of a shoe that is raised off the ground. Soles are the bottom of the shoe that come in contact with the ground. VAMPS are the front part of the shoe upper that covers the toes. Toes are the front part of the foot. Uppers are the top part of the shoe that covers the foot. LACES are used to secure the shoe to the foot. Welts are strips of leather or other material that are stitched to the upper and sole of a shoe. Eyelets are small metal or plastic rings that are used to thread LACES through. Toecaps are pieces of material that are sewn onto the toe of a shoe for reinforcement.
