Shimon Peres was an Israeli politician who served as the ninth President of Israel from 2007 to 2014. He was also the Prime Minister of Israel twice, from 1984 to 1986 and again from 1995 to 1996. Peres was a member of 12 cabinets in a political career spanning over 66 years. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 for his role in negotiating the Oslo Accords, a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. Peres was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.
