Frederic Pohl was an American science fiction writer, editor, and fan. He was a prolific author who wrote more than 30 novels and over 100 short stories. He was also an influential editor, having edited Galaxy magazine from 1961 to 1969. He won numerous awards for his work, including the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1978 for Gateway. He was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 1998.
