Ryne Sandberg is a former Major League Baseball player who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York in 2005. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs during his 16-year career and was a 10-time All-Star. Sandberg was known for his defensive prowess and offensive power, and he was the first second baseman to win the National League MVP award in 1984. He was also a two-time Gold Glove winner and a nine-time Silver Slugger Award recipient.
