Anton Chekhov was a Russian dramatist and short story writer who is widely considered to be one of the greatest writers of short fiction in history. He wrote over four hundred stories and is best known for his plays, including The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, and Three Sisters. Chekhov was born in 1860 in Taganrog, Russia and died in 1904 in Badenweiler, Germany. He is remembered for his innovative use of language and his ability to capture the complexities of human emotion.
