Emil Zatopek was a Czechoslovakian long-distance runner who won three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He is best known for his performance in the 10, 000 meters, where he set an Olympic record and also won gold. He also won gold in the 5, 000 meters and the marathon. Zatopek was nicknamed the 'Czech Locomotive' due to his running style, which was characterized by a great deal of effort and determination. He was known for pushing himself to the limit and running great distances with ease.
