Patti Smith is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist who rose to fame in the 1970s with her influential album Horses. She is often referred to as the 'Godmother of Punk' due to her influence on the punk rock movement. Smith has released twelve studio albums, including her most recent, Banga, in 2012. She has also published several books of poetry and prose. Smith is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a three-time Grammy Award winner.
