Rendering someone or something powerless can be accomplished in two ways: unplugging and paralyzing. Unplugging, which is six letters long, involves disconnecting a device from its power source, thus disabling it. Paralyzing, which is eight letters long, involves depriving someone or something of the ability to move or act, thus making them unable to do anything. Both of these methods can be used to render someone or something powerless.
