Nat Turner was an American slave who led a rebellion in 1831. He was a leader of the rebellion and is remembered as one of the most prominent figures in the history of the United States. He was born into slavery in Southampton County, Virginia and was a literate preacher who had a deep knowledge of the Bible. He believed that God had chosen him to lead his people out of bondage. He organized a small group of slaves and freedmen to launch a rebellion against their white oppressors. The revolt resulted in the deaths of around 60 white people and the freeing of many slaves. Turner was eventually captured and executed for his role in the rebellion. His legacy lives on as a symbol of resistance against oppression and injustice.
