The ANDES is a mountain range that runs through Peru and Chile. It is the longest continental mountain range in the world, stretching over 7, 000 km (4, 350 mi) from Venezuela to the southern tip of Chile. The ANDES are home to some of the highest peaks in the world, including Aconcagua in Argentina, which is the highest peak outside of Asia. The range also contains many volcanoes, some of which are still active. The ANDES are an important source of water for the people living in the region, as well as providing a habitat for a wide variety of plants and animals.
