The term 'pirate potable' refers to alcoholic beverages that were consumed by pirates. The two most common pirate potables were RUM and GROG. RUM is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses, or directly from sugarcane juice. GROG is a mixture of RUM and water, sometimes with the addition of lime juice and spices. Both of these drinks were popular among pirates, as they were relatively cheap and easy to obtain.
