Iago is a character in William Shakespeare's play Othello, and is the main antagonist. He is a Machiavellian villain who plots to manipulate Othello into believing his wife Desdemona is unfaithful. Iago is often referred to as a 'TRAITOR' because of his betrayal of Othello, and his willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve his own selfish goals. He is a master manipulator, and is able to deceive those around him with ease.
