Orson Welles was an American actor, director, writer and producer who is best known for his film Citizen Kane. He was born in 1915 and began his career in radio before moving to Hollywood in 1939. He directed, wrote and starred in many films throughout his career, including The Magnificent Ambersons, Touch of Evil and Chimes at Midnight. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for Citizen Kane and won an Academy Honorary Award in 1971.
