Sonia Gandhi is one of the Gandhis, a prominent political family in India. She is the widow of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the mother of current Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was the first female Prime Minister of India and the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. Rajiv Gandhi was the son of Indira Gandhi and served as Prime Minister from 1984 to 1989.
