Phil Mahre was an American alpine ski racer who competed in the Olympics. He won gold medals in the slalom and giant slalom events at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He also won the World Cup overall title three times, in 1981, 1982, and 1983. He is considered one of the greatest ski racers of all time.
